Dermalogica’s AGE Smart line is designed to enhance the skin’s defense against the main causes of skin aging. The products are known to increase firmness and elasticity, as well as reduce fine lines and other signs of aging. We are highlighting two products in particular, the Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 30, and the Antioxidant HydraMist. Both of these products have received a lot of attention from the press. We are running a great deal this month that you will want to take advantage of. Read on to find out more!

Dermalogica’s Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 30 is the perfect daytime moisturizer. Apply it in the morning to mature, or prematurely aging skin on your face and neck. Products like Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 will firm the skin and promote collagen growth while also fighting off free radicals. Not to mention, the SPF protects your skin from sun exposure. InStyle Magazine’s editors recommend Dynamic Skin Recovery to help prevent sagging, wrinkling, and sun damage on the vulnerable neck area.

Another great AGE Smart product from Dermalogica is the Antioxidant HydraMist. It also works to promote collagen and fight off free radicals, but it can be used as a pick-me-up for your skin anytime throughout the day. The spritz is refreshing and packed full of antioxidants. Allure Magazine says Antioxidant HydraMist peptides and glucosamine “target internal damage before it becomes visible to the naked eye.” Did we mention you can get a full size bottle of this product for free?

With this week’s Happy Hour Special you will receive a FREE Antioxidant HydraMist when you order a Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 30! This deal will be good through the end of July, and you are going to want to take advantage of it. These are two great products that will work in conjunction with one another to fight the signs of aging!

Disclaimer: Skin Care Logic has a relationship with the above products in that we sell them in our store and at our facial studio.http://cmp.ly/4 We love them, and we think you will too!

Under Eye Circles and Puffiness February 9, 2009

Under eye circles, wrinkles and puffiness…VERY common concerns! The area around the eye is much thinner than anywhere else on the body, and therefore one of the first places we show aging. Let’s look at each concern, and how to treat it.

Dark circles can often be hereditary. The sun is often to blame since it can cause veins/capillaries around the eye to “leak”. Since skin here is thin, this “leaking” becomes very visible. Lack of sleep is sometimes to blame (but if you alwys have dark circles, the problem is probably not related to sleepiness). Dry, dull skin can make dark circles look worse.

Hide dark circles with a good eye cream. Find one with an SPF to help prevent future damage. Some have “light diffusers”, which bounce light off the eye (making circles much less apparent). Anything with a light red/pink tint can help cancel out darkness.

Puffiness can be caused by things light water retention, heredity, allergies, leaving make-up on overnight, smoke, etc. Severe pads under the eyes are usally hereditary (and best treated by blepharoplasty).

Treating puffiness requires calming ingredients. Hydrocotyl Extract is an anti-inflammatory that calms skin. Vitamin E, Spiraea, Bisabolol and Allantoin are also smoothing and calming.

Fine lines are very common around the eye, and are bound to happen at some point. The sun, however, makes wrinkles SO much worse!

Treat fine lines with Lactic Acid, which smoothes tissue and retexturizes the area. Hyaluronic Acid helps “plump” skin and is super-moisturizing. Sodium PCA is a “humectant” (which just means it drawsmoisture to the skin), which helps fill in lines. Also be sure to wear SPF every day around the eyes…it helps prevent problems from getting worse!

More tips:

  • No smoking!
  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Take an antihistamine if you are prone to allergies (helps decrease puffiness)
  • Use a cold mask or cucumbers before applying make-up
  • Wear sunglasses! (They can help block some of the sun’s rays)

I love, love, love this product to treat the eye area:
